OKD is the largest employer in the Moravian-Silesian Region and one of the largest private employers in the Czech Republic. Currently there are over 13 000 employees working in OKD.
Working in mining industry is certainly not for everyone. Therefore OKD appreciates all its employees, who successfully manage their work, and is able to appreciate them properly. People are the most valuable asset of the company.
The average wage of a miner in OKD significantly exceeds the regional average. With the support of OKD, the mining vocational schooling has been restored; the first year of the future mining locksmiths as well as mining electricians joined the studies in 2009 when also the OKD Central Education Centre was opened. This serves primarily to the current employees to raise their qualification. The Employee Centre in Karviná has been in operation since 2008 and it is intended for employee recruitment. These steps play a key role in in the new strategy of the company concerning the human resources.

The code of ethics is not any binding rule of law or internal directive, it represents, however, a moral obligation for each employee of OKD.
